Britney Spears Settles Lawsuit with Paparazzi

Britney Spears

Britney Spears has settled a lawsuit with a photographer who claimed she ran over his foot in 2007.

On Monday, a notice of settlement was filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, and while the terms of the agreement have not been released, the photographer, Ricardo Mendoza, had originally sought more than $200,000.

The Oct. 2007 incident occurred as Spears was driving her white Mercedes out of a Beverly Hills parking garage. It was an especially bad day for the singer: Earlier, a judge had temporarily suspended her rights to see her sons Preston, now 4, and Jayden, now 3.

Mendoza, who was working for at the time, claimed the singer intentionally ran over his left foot and told the site that Spears's handlers should have been aware that she "was not in the mental, emotional and/or physical condition to operate the subject motor vehicle in a safe and reasonable manner."

Spears, 27, has come a long way since the incident. Not only does she have joint custody of her kids again, but she has another hit song: Her new single, 3, just debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Britney Spears to Release Hits Collection, New Single

In music history, few acts have moved more units than Britney Spears.

We're talking about album sales, not that she hasn't moved a fair share of units in other ways, if you know what me mean. Just not 80 million of 'em.

It's hard to believe, given her current status as redeemed train wreck, but Britney has now been around and cranking out hit music for a full decade.

In celebration of the 10th anniversary of her debut on the scene, Jive Records is releasing Britney Spears: The Singles Collection on November 24.

about britney spearsTo help launch the special package, a brand new Britney single entitled "3," which she just recorded with Max Martin, will debut Tuesday, September 29.

There will be two configurations of The Singles Collection:

The standard version, which will contain 17 of Britney Spears' chart topping favorites along with the new song "3," all on one totally awesome CD.
The ultimate fan box set version, containing all 29 of singer's singles, including the new "3." You also get a book of cool Britney Spears photos.
During her stellar 10 year career, Britney has had five albums debut at the #1 spot on the Billboard Top 100 Album Chart, as well as 23 (23!) Top 40 hits.

Britney is currently touring in support of her most recent studio album Circus. The Circus tour started in her home state of Louisiana in March 2009.

Britney Spears Custody Pact with K-Fed Extended

Britney Spears and Kevin Federline will share 50-50 custody of their sons Sean Preston and Jayden James through the end of this year, and likely beyond.

An L.A. County Superior Court judge extended the order that was initially put in place earlier this year for the purposes of Britney Spears' Circus tour.

Under the terms, Britney gets to travel with Sean Preston and Jayden James and must provide the FedEx man with a place to stay if he wants to come with.

The sealed order is more detailed, but the long and short of it is that Britney Spears gets minimum 50-50 custody and at times even more. Hooray!

As for Kevin, in addition to the $20,000 a month Britney pays him in child support, he gets up to $25,000 a month when the kids are outside California.

That'll by a lot of steaks for the Celebrity Fit Club star.

At the end of the year the judge will reevaluate custody, but it is looking like the 50-50 arrangement is the way of the future. K-Fed has not stood in the way of Britney Spears' efforts to see the kids since she's gotten better.

Britney and K-Fed seem to be on the same page. Well, in terms of custody of the kids. Certainly not in terms of talent or diet.

In other Britney Spears news, the celebrity gossip photographer whose foot she ran over with a car back in 2007 is still looking to cash in on it.

Shutterbug Ricardo Mendoza, who fell victim to the tire of Britney Spears' Mercedes in 2007, has updated his accusation against the pop star.

When Mendoza sued her for assault, battery and negligence back in May, the damages were unspecified. But now, they're specified: Mendoza wants $195,000 in general damages, $16,533 for medical bills and $10,000 for future foot problems.

Hey, might as well milk it while you're at it.

Mendoza, who was clicking away for TMZ at the time of the incident, let the website auction off the treaded-upon sock he was wearing two years ago.

Someone bought it, too. For $585. Amazing.

Meanwhile, Britney's busy concluding the North American leg of her wildly successful Circus tour before she heads off to Australia in November.
